What kinds of vehicles do you work on?

Heavy-duty trucks (Class 7 and 8), semi-trailers, box trucks, RVs, and commercial fleet vehicles. We're set up for the work that earns its living — engines, drivetrains, electrical, HVAC, brakes, suspensions, frames, tires, and DOT inspections.

If you're not sure whether your vehicle is something we handle, call the shop and we'll let you know.

Do you accept walk-ins or do I need an appointment?

Both. For routine work — tire repair, brake service, smaller diagnostic work — walk-ins are welcome during shop hours (Mon–Fri 8 AM – 5 PM). For larger jobs, engine work, DOT inspection prep, or anything that requires holding a bay overnight, we ask that you call ahead so we can schedule the time.

Mobile service (axle, spindle, tire) always needs scheduling so we can dispatch the right truck.

How does mobile service work?

Call the shop, describe the issue and your location. We'll quote the service call, schedule a time window, and dispatch a service truck with the equipment for the job — most commonly tire repair, mobile axle, or mobile spindle work.

Mobile service is great for fleets that don't want to deadhead a tractor or trailer to the shop, or for breakdowns at a yard or jobsite.

Do you handle 24-hour towing and recovery yourselves?

The shop runs Mon–Fri 8 AM – 5 PM. 24-hour towing, recovery, and roadside is dispatched through our sister company, Prairie Land Towing — Wisconsin's largest towing operation since 1984. Same family of businesses, one phone call covers both:

Do you provide written quotes before starting work?

Yes. After diagnosis, we provide a written estimate covering parts, labor, and expected timeline. We don't start billable work without your sign-off on the quote — no surprises.

For ongoing fleet customers on a maintenance schedule, we work to a pre-approved scope so the routine PMs roll without the back-and-forth.

Do you offer fleet account pricing?

Yes. If you run multiple tractors or trailers, talk to us about a fleet account — predictable pricing, scheduled PM cadence, DOT inspection management, and priority scheduling for routine work. Call the shop or send an email to info@pls-wi.com to discuss.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, business checks, and cash. Fleet accounts can be set up on net-30 invoicing terms after credit review. For one-time customers, payment is due on completion.

What's the typical turnaround on common jobs?

Honest answer: depends on the job, parts availability, and shop schedule. Rough ranges:

  • Tire repair / mounting: same-day if dropped off by mid-morning
  • Brake service: 1 day
  • Routine PM / DOT inspection: 1 day
  • Electrical diagnostics: 1–3 days depending on how intermittent the issue is
  • Engine overhaul / major drivetrain: 1–2 weeks depending on scope and parts

Where are you located and what areas do you serve?

2716 County Hwy N, Suite A, Cottage Grove, WI 53527 — about 15 minutes from Madison and 10 minutes from Sun Prairie via I-94.

Our regular service area covers Cottage Grove, Sun Prairie, Madison, Monona, McFarland, Stoughton, Deerfield, and surrounding Southern Wisconsin. Mobile service runs throughout the metro. Towing through PLT covers the entire state.
